What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

(Self Port.) (Artist Statement) - Lea Winkler

Artist Statement:

For me childhood is representative of how your life plans out. For example if your childhood is the bad, things overall in life might be harder for you. In this picture the reason why I am on a slide is because I consider it the quintessential thing that represents childhood. The play set, to which is connected to, is dilapidated to represent that childhood as it goes by how easily it can be damaged. I am dressed in all black because to me black is the color of death. The ski/robbery mask that I am wearing goes along with idea that your childhood can easily be robbed. Red roses in this image represent love, which should be a major influence in your childhood. The setting of the image has a great connection to my life, because throughout my life I have always played on this, especially when I was a little kid. Over time it has started to get into wither away and gone into disrepair, but I don’t want to take it down because I feel so strongly connected to it.

Trail and Error: Given to you
