What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

Self-Portrait

Trial and Error

Instead of putting my picture on the acetate paper on the contact sheet paper it was so small that I ended up putting it in the negative carrier. For printing my self-portrait first did a test at 5-10-15 seconds. Then I put it through the developer, stop, fix, and water. After that I showed my test strip to Alexis and she told me to print the photo at fifteen seconds. It came out a little light so then I printed the photo at twenty-seven seconds. It was still a little light so Alexis told me to print my photo at thirty-one second. At thirty-one seconds it looked good Alexis thought so then I left photo in the water for longer and then later put it on the rack to dry.

Artistic Statement

For my picture I took a picture of me with my pony Grace because she always makes me feel happy and calm. She makes me feel very relaxed because she would never do anything to hurt me. When I am with her I don't think about anything else but being there with her. She matters a lot to me and I am grateful to have her as mine. In the photo the background is out of focused so its showing how when i'm with her i'm focused on her. I'm also showing how we are kind of as one.
