What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

Andrew Davis 10C Collage, Personal Philosophy, and Artist Statement

Personal Philosophy: Every day we face different decisions in life. I believe that every day we are faced with different experiences and problems in life. There is one thing I always want to be in life, which is always to have a smile on my face and to be happy. I don’t think its fair when people put their colleges down and make them feel bad about them selves. I think it’s stupid and idiotic. What I don’t understand is why people put other people down. I know that if I was putting people down it will make me feel worse about myself. I don’t think anyone would like it done to him or her. My motto in life is to treat people how you would like to be treated. You don’t want to go through life being the “bully” and standing all over people.

Artist Statement: My collage is about the golden rule treating people the way you want to be treated. Everyone single one of my images is about helping others and treating everyone as you equal. In the news and magazines there have been articles about kids committing suicide from being bullied by other kids. Also those Chilean miners who got rescued a couple days ago. I have a rainbow ribbon that I got during club time to represent all of the kids who committed suicide in the past month. I also put those paper people in to show that we are all equal an everyone should be treated the same. I also cut out some quotes that represent my personal philosophy. I also added in a picture of a man pushing another man in a wheel chair. I think that no one should put anyone down you should build each other up.
