Philosophical Paragraph
I don’t believe in “pre destination”. I believe that you make your own decisions and they can always change but I do believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that you control your life and “God” does not control your life. It wouldn’t be your life if you weren’t even in control. I want to be a musician when I am older but I might change my mind. I think that I will be whatever I want to be and I am the one who decides what will happen with my life. Life is like a rollercoaster, there are ups and downs, but when something bad happens, something good almost always follows it. When something bad happens you can’t just give up, you have to get on with your life. Life is too short, so you have to live it to the fullest. There isn’t enough time to in your life to be sad all the time. You learn from your mistakes and that is why you make mistakes. I believe that everything happens for a reason. What’s done is done and you shouldn’t have any regrets because you can’t go back and change it. Don’t think about what you could have done because you’re just living in the past and you will waste your life thinking of what could have happened rather than what did happen.
Artist's Statement
I put the Georgia O’Keefe image with a talk bubble that says “YES” on it because she was an independent thinker who made her own decisions throughout her life. The “YES” is there because that is how I believe one should live life. I chose the picture of God with the “NO” on it because I don’t believe in “pre-destiny” and I don’t believe that God is in control of my life. The rollercoaster represents the uncertainty of life, the ups and downs. The picture of the palm reader’s hand with the “X” on it represents my beliefs that you make your own decisions and your life is not predictable. The arrows represent all the different directions life may take you. The future sign and the one-way sign show that you can only move forward, you can’t go back in life, so you should not live in the past. The spiral with the baby in the center and the grandpa at the end is the focal point of my collage. The spiral shows the cycle of life by starting at birth and leading to old age.
