What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

Haleigh Rimland Collages

1st Collage

This collage represents taking care of our planet and trying to save it before it’s too late. It depicts a globe (our world) and an explosion coming out from inside of it. One of my philosophical ideas was that we should do as much as we can for our environment. We all can make a difference by recycling, using environmentally safe cleaning products, donating to clean-ups in places such as the Gulf Coast.

2nd Collage

This collage represents helping others in need in your neighborhood or traveling to different places and helping. How the things we do in life is stapled into who we are as a person, and how one brilliant idea can change a whole nation. I made a silhouette of my face and had some sayings coming out of it.

3rd Collage

This collage represents curiosity and new ideas. Also reach for your goals, and aspire to be a better person. Try to be inspired by everyday events, and see the possibilities. It depicts a house, and a girl on a ladder looking for or reaching for something (an idea). Being ethical in your everyday life should not be a choice but a way of life.

4th Collage

This collage represents living each day to its fullest, and making the most of it. It also represents viewing the world from a different perspective and aspiring to do exhilarating things. In this collage I put a farm man looking up at a huge hot air balloon and him seeing the possibilities outside of his realm, and making better choices for the planet.
