Philosophical: I believe that everyone has creativity. It is something people only see when done by others. No one who is creative typically sets out to be its just how you see things and how you performer which may be unique to others.
I would like to see a world where everyone could share and be happy with the people who love around them. I would like to see once again a community barbeque where everyone in the community gets together and brings something they raised. Farming would be a way where it didn’t take a lot of work, save people money, healthier food for our family and many other positive outcomes.
The idea behind my college is a sense of community much like we have at the Ross school. The idea was that if we all used our front lawns as a place to grow fruit and vegetable instead of a place so plant pretty flowers and bushes which don’t really serve and good purpose anyways. And if everyone followed this we would have an immense amount of healthy food not only for ourselves but our neighbors. Who would be able to come and harvest also and visa versa. The idea isn’t that we all become farmers or survive off of this but that we learn to share and take only what we need and build out community.
This would not only make the community stronger but it would also save people a lot of money that they would be spending in the grocery store. Not only would they be saving money but you would also be able to see where your food comes from and make sure that it really is organic. This would also encourage people to eat healthier, and bring them out of the house a little more often to garden, which I don’t think would hurt anyone. If this did catch on it would help lesson the demand of meat (mainly cow) which most of our carbon emissions come form.
This theory would ideally work best in a place with a warm climate where they could grow year round and not only seasonal plants but also trees such as banana, apple, kiwi, lemons, oranges and so on. I look forward to next year when I can put this idea to practice and hopefully it will catch on.
